The USD Real Estate Alumni Association (REAA) continues to build impressive momentum as alumni engagement reaches new heights through a series of dynamic and well-attended events this season.

On October 9, 2025, the USD real estate alumni community gathered in spectacular fashion for the third annual signature event aboard the iconic 130-foot Yacht America. Hosted by event sponsor and proud USD alumnus Seth O’Byrne, with McCarthy Construction generously providing food and beverage sponsorship, the evening offered a perfect blend of connection, relaxation, and panoramic coastal beauty.

Guests enjoyed a leisurely cruise along the San Diego bay—an ideal setting for building relationships and strengthening the Torero Real Estate network. Throughout the evening, alumni reconnected, exchanged industry insights, and celebrated the continued growth of USD’s real estate alumni association.

Building on the momentum of the Yacht America event, USD real estate alumni next came together for an exclusive site tour of the newly completed Sasan Lofts, followed by a rooftop happy hour at Communion, the building’s acclaimed signature restaurant. Hosted by USD alumni Seth O’Byrne and Prem Advani, the event brought together graduates across class years for an inspiring look at one of San Diego’s newest award winning developments.

The evening opened with a warm welcome outside Sasan Lofts, where architect and developer Soheil Nakhshab led attendees through the building’s design vision, development journey, and standout architectural features. Alumni explored the modern loft units, admired the abundant natural light and sweeping views, and learned how a former one-story strip mall was transformed into an eight-story, mixed-use residential landmark. Throughout the tour, Soheil offered insights on creative problem-solving, community engagement, and the intentional design details that define Sasan Lofts.

Following the tour, alumni gathered atop the building for a celebratory happy hour at Communion—recognized as one of San Diego’s Best New Restaurants of 2025. With stunning city and coastal views as the backdrop, attendees enjoyed cocktails, appetizers, and lively conversation in a relaxed and vibrant setting. The event sparked meaningful dialogue as alumni reconnected with classmates, met fellow Toreros in the industry, and discussed career paths, dealmaking, and the evolving real estate landscape.

This gathering underscored the strength of the USD real estate network—where professional insight, innovation, and community come together. A special thank-you goes to Seth O’Byrne, Prem Advani, and Soheil Nakhshab for hosting an evening that celebrated both the future of urban living in San Diego and the lasting connections built at USD.

Continuing the USD Real Estate Alumni Association’s mission of building relationships, alumnus Akhil Israni hosted a memorable evening at the iconic La Valencia Hotel. The elegant, welcoming setting brought together graduates from a range of class years and industry sectors, offering the perfect atmosphere to foster new professional connections and reconnect with fellow Toreros. With strong attendance and engaging conversation throughout the night, the gathering once again highlighted the enduring strength and generosity of the USD real estate community.

Together, these events reflect the growing engagement and enthusiasm surrounding the USD Real Estate Alumni Association. With more opportunities for alumni to gather, collaborate, and stay connected—thanks to the leadership of the dedicated Real Estate Alumni Association Advisory Board—the network continues to expand, creating a deep sense of community and belonging among Toreros across the real estate field.
