From READI Mentee to Torero: Pablo Sayas Begins His USD Journey

This fall, the Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate's Real Estate Awareness and Discovery Initiative (READI) came full circle when one of the program's own mentees arrived on campus as a first-year Torero.

Pablo Sayas first crossed paths with BMC Executive Director Stath Karras during a READI session with the Barrio Logan College Institute (BLCI). At the time, Pablo was a sophomore in high school who had already set his sights on a career in real estate. That initial spark was enough for Stath to stay connected with him, and the two kept in touch throughout Pablo's junior and senior years, with Stath offering guidance as Pablo weighed his options for college.

That relationship, paired with Pablo's talent and passion for cross country, his sport throughout high school, helped point him toward the University of San Diego. Pablo applied and was accepted, and he began his first semester on campus this fall.

Stath is looking forward to continuing his mentorship as Pablo navigates college and to welcoming him into BMC programming and events in the years ahead. Pablo's path from a READI classroom visit to a USD student is a reminder of what the program set out to do from the start: open doors to real estate careers for students who might not otherwise know they exist and stay with them for the journey that follows.
