The Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate is pleased to welcome Tom Arnold, DBA, to the Real Estate Department faculty at the University of San Diego (USD). Arnold brings more than three decades of senior leadership in global real estate investment, private equity and portfolio management to the classroom, giving real estate students direct access to someone who has operated at the highest levels of institutional real estate.

Most recently, Arnold spent more than a decade at the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), rising to global head of real estate after serving as deputy global head and head of Americas. During his tenure, he helped lead a multi-client platform, executed global acquisitions and dispositions exceeding $30 billion and managed a development platform of more than $20 billion across five continents.

Prior to joining ADIA, Arnold served as managing director and real estate partner at Cerberus Capital Partners, where he originated equity, mezzanine and debt investments across commercial and residential assets. He previously held senior real estate roles at ING Financial Services, Credit Suisse and Salomon Brothers. He currently advises Declaration Real Estate Partners and previously advised McKinsey’s Real Estate Practice.

Arnold’s leadership extends across the real estate industry. He is a past chairman of the Pension Real Estate Association (PREA) and the Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate (AFIRE), co-founder of the PREA Foundation and a longtime Urban Land Institute leader. His academic background includes a DBA and JD from the University of Florida, an MBA from Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business and an LLM in Taxation from New York University. He is also a CFA and CAIA charter holder.

At USD, Arnold teaches Commercial Real Estate Finance and Investment and Legal Aspects of Real Estate, bringing decades of institutional investment, development and industry leadership directly into the classroom. His combination of global real estate experience and academic expertise offers students a valuable perspective on the complexities of today’s real estate industry.

Please join the Burnham-Moores Center in welcoming Tom Arnold to the Torero real estate community.
